Models

Landscape:
The mystical terrain shaped in the Sete Montes (Seven Hills) landscape unit in symbolic evocation of the sacred cities of Christendom - Jerusalem, Rome, Constantinople.

Castle:
Fortress cities of the late Roman Empire in the East, retaken over by the Crusaders in Palestine. Division of urban space through three grounds: military barracks, public yard and town.
Charola:
Round Temple, uniquely dedicated to the cult of the Templars, is modelled on the Church of Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, from the Crusaders time, as well as on the first church the Knights Templar had in Jerusalem: the Mosque of Omar. This mosque, also known as the Rock Mosque (643-692), built by Greek architects in the terrace of the old Temple of Solomon follows the architectural paradigm initiated by Constantine with the Holy Sepulchre church (335).
Manueline Church:
Transformation of the Charola (Round Church) adapted to a Roman canonical church - a basilica model with facing east altar.

Spatiality:
Benedictine and Cistercian model adapted to the very steep terrain. Instead of a cloister, the buildings are developed around four cloisters.

Architecture:
The model for the general construction falls within the architectural vocabulary of the Italian Renaissance, periods of "Quattrocento" and "Cinquecento".
