Mechanical
No machinery or equipment used in monastic daily life has reached our times. In 1834, with the extinction of religious orders, all property goods of the Convent of Christ were alienated in favour of the Crown. Thus, like the artistic goods which became state property, also all equipment tools were placed under public auction and its proceeds reverted to the public coffers.
The exception is a clockwork mechanism and its pointer, both exhibited in the Notary house in the Lodgings Cloister.
There is also part of the large set of bells from the Charola bell, amongst which stands the great Manueline bell, "the Whale", thus called given its large size.
